About
All about me pages, who really ever reads them and what do you actually take from them i mean are they really worth the what can be endless amount of time you spend putting into them. My concern with about me pages is despite peoples best efforts they always come across as tooting ones own horns – it’s kinda hard to avoid too given that the page is simply about you and perhaps your interests.
I really do not enjoy about me pages and do all i can to avoid filling them out but I think I’ll give this a go and well we will see where i end up hopefully this wont come across as me simply tooting my own horn or sounding like the worlds largest looser – it likely will come to one or the other but I’ll do my best!
So lets start with the obvious details I’m at the time of located in Melbourne and struggling to make ends meat, it sucks but hey that’s just how it is, i arrived in Australia on the the very day the news services picked up on the economy going splat. I remember being stuck in Hong-Kong airport for 10 hours thinking to myself well .. OK it could be worse, not the best start but it wont last that long will it ?
We all know how that has ended up, so lets see I’m originally from England, lived many, most my years in the north of England between Bradford and Sheffield, I have a partner which i have been with now for a year+ and we are happy, well at least i am you never know with women until the dishes are launched towards your head, needless to say i shall likely have one launched my way when she reads this.
Our household is very sporting too, myself being from England follows several football teams around the world and the kids and my partner follow other teams, to summarise i follow in football:
- Manchester United – England
- Deportivo La Coruna - Spain
- Werder Bremmen – Germany
- Willem II – Holland
- Sampdoria – italy
- ST Johnstone – Scotland
and my partner follows Roma and Arsenal while her son follows Juventus Barcelona and Chelsea – so it’s often food for an argument over anything in this household. Aside from football i do also follow the NRL, my team being the Dragons! and I’ve also developed a great passion for AFL my team being St Kilda.
Aside from my sporting loves I am also a big fan of PHP although i must admit of late I have starting to push my interest towards Ruby, although i am perhaps one of the worst developers in the world, i normally only release snippets due to the shape that often follows my woeful code, although it is my dream to one day release something worth something (not cash, but more worth something to somebody).
I have involvement with Joomla! via the Joomlatools team who i try to help out wherever i can, i have never met developers like those guys, they are actually nice guys. I have found in my years online that most developers have an ego but these guys are very down to earth and newbie friendly!
Aside from being possibly the worse speller in the world I’m a fan of Google and a committed Linux user, by committed i mean i have used it since the days when people really thought to be a Linux user you needed to be committed all the way through to the modern age when you need to be committed not to use it.
My blog aims at whatever I’m doing at the time to be honest, I try to stay away from politics simply and religion as i think they are one and the same in this modern age, i do have the odd moan and complaint now and then and i also will hopefully one day release some useful code.. who knows. I hope you enjoy the blog and can read past my horrible typos and worse grammar and of course share your views with whatever I am blogging about at the time.
