DOCman being one of the most popular components for Joomla! is not hard to understand really, the DOCman 1.3 version contained early elements of what Joomla! 1.5 would use and was carried over into 1.4.x you should in theory say that DOCman was the early testing ground for some of Joomla! 1.5’s key features.
